The Farm – Moment In Time
OUT NOW (Wed 9 April 2025)
From the album Let The Music (Take Control)
Released Fri 20 June 2025 via Modern Sky
Original DIY success story, indie/dance crossover icons and enduring figures across multiple realms of British popular culture, The Farm return with their first new music of 2025, Moment In Time. Instantly recognisable by sound for their aspirational, observational and near-spiritual upbeat and aspirational electro-inspired indie, and by sight for their mod-ish terrace gang wardrobe, the formerly riotous, now reformed 80s/90s Liverpool five-piece return as wised-up statesmen of pop and look ahead to the release of their long-awaited, fifth album on Fri 20 June 2025.
Officially setting the countdown to the album running, and offering fans a sneak preview of new songs ahead of release, The Farm played a surprise FREE show at Liverpool’s Jacaranda (Wed 9 April, 7pm). The appearance is the band’s first gig since their intimate, sell out show at Liverpool’s The Arts Club last November.
Despite appearing to be forever present as a force in music thanks to repeated cover versions and timely re-issues of their greatest hit singles, plus decades of well-publicised activism, The Farm’s last album was 1994’s US-only release of Hullabaloo. A band whipped up into a frenzy of deserved hype following the release of their 1991, No.1 debut album, Spartacus, which brought era-defining singles, All Together Now and Groovy Train into the world, they quickly followed up in 1992 with their second album, Love See No Colour.
Constructed by the band’s original ‘heyday’ line-up of Peter Hooton (vocals), Steve Grimes (guitar/keys), Keith Mullin (guitar) Carl Hunter (bass) and Roy Boulter (drums), the fruits of The Farm’s new studio sessions were first tasted with BBC Radio 2-playlisted single, Feel The Love, released in summer 2023. Sensing new creative momentum within themselves and a hunger amongst fans for more of the same, The Farm connected with leading indie label, Modern Sky and completed a further, nine tracks to complete Let The Music (Take Control), their first album in over three decades.
Recorded in their home city and produced in the company of Mike Cave (The Charlatans, Bloc Party) the album is set for release on multiple formats, including vinyl, CD and digital, with the band confirming the full track-listing for the album as follows:
- Forever & Ever
- Let The Music (Take Control)
- Feel The Love
- Waiting For The Sun
- Breathe
- That Feeling
- World Without You
- Moment In Time
- Can’t Stop (Loving You)
- Eternity

The Farm hold a distinct place in British popular culture, crossing through football terrace culture via Hooton’s influential The End fanzine of the 1980’s, the emergent North West indie/dance scene of the 90’s, alongside Stone Roses and Happy Mondays and meeting Balearic dance culture via their appearance in the era-defining documentary A Short Film
About Chilling.
Produced by Madness front man, Suggs, the release of their cover of The Monkees’ Stepping Stone in 1990 provided the momentum for the band’s rise to chart prominence in the months that followed.
Renowned campaigners for justice, not least in connection with the city of Liverpool’s search for truth and justice in connection with the 1989 Hillsborough Stadium disaster, the band formed The Justice Tonight Band with Mick Jones of The Clash in 2011, going on to support Stone Roses at their huge reunion shows. Evolving under the weight of significant momentum to become The Justice Collective a year later, The Farm were the catalyst for the 2012 Christmas UK Singles Chart No 1 cover of He Ain’t Heavy, with collaborators as diverse as Paul McCartney, Holly Johnson, Paloma Faith, Paul Heaton, Robbie
Williams and football legend, Kenny Dalglish.
In 2014 they teamed up with the Premier League to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the WWI Christmas Truce, raising money for the Red Cross/Shorncliffe Trust by recording a version of All Together Now with artists such as Clean Bandit, Gorgon City, Suggs, The Proclaimers, Mick Jones and Leo Sayer.
Written about the 1914 Christmas Day Armistice which saw British and German troops lay down weapons for a game of football, All Together Now stands as The Farm’s biggest hit to date, reaching No.4 on the UK Singles Chart. It has been covered on numerous occasions, remaining an enduring message of hope across generations.
